Dear Friends:

Welcome to the Summerlin Academy Home Page. We sincerely hope this website will become one of your favorites. Our mission is “To prepare young men & women for life after high school by developing leadership, scholarship, citizenship, and instilling a sense of honor.”

Since 1858, the small community of Bartow has produced leaders in all walks of life. This small town has produced doctors, lawyers, judges, generals, members of Congress, a Florida Governor, playwrights, musicians, artists, educators, professional athletes and many others.

Each of these outstanding individuals began his or her journey to greatness at Summerlin Institute or Union Academy. Summerlin Academy gets its name from these schools. It is the goal of Summerlin Academy to continue to build on this sacred tradition with a new group of young men & women dedicated to becoming the best they can be.

Our cadets will complete a four-year intensive program that educates them not only in the classroom, but also outside the classroom - in their extra-curricular activities, during summer camps, and community service events. Here at Summerlin we want all of graduates to be people of substance.

We also emphasize the importance of building character in all aspects of our program. Summerlin Academy offers a unique opportunity where young men and women - from a diversity of races, regions, socio-economic groups and religions - gather in a special environment to learn and practice ideals that may often seem to be lacking in modern society. We want to produce a group of leaders capable of propelling our society forward.
