Richard began his teaching career in Indiana where he taught French and Spanish for 33 years until retiring in 2002. He taught at Paoli High School for two years and at Bloomington North High School for 31 years. There, he was Foreign Language Department Chair and Public Address announcer for football and basketball among other duties and activities. After a year hiatus he began teaching at Cathedral High School, a private Catholic school in Indianapolis. After a year of teaching there and commuting one and one-half hours daily, Richard and his wife, Lila moved to Florida. He has taught Spanish at Bartow High School and Spanish, World History and U.S. History at Summerlin Military Academy for the last four years.
Richard has led a very active life which includes, acting, musical entertaining (piano and organ), emcee work for pageants, sports (basketball, racquetball, softball and tennis) and many other interests and activities which keep him busy in and out of school. He is an Evangelical Christian and has been active in church work. He credits the Lord for any success he may have had and plans to continue teaching for at least four more years, God willing.
