LTC Mike Lentz, a native of Alabama, was commissioned an
Infantry lieutenant in 1983 through the ROTC program at
Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville Alabama. He is a
combat veteran with tours in Operation Just Cause in “The
Republic of Panama” 1989 and Operation Desert Storm in 1990. He
is currently the JROTC Senior Army Instructor at Summerlin
Academy and Bartow High School.
Mike served 14 years as an Infantry Officer in leadership
positions from the platoon to brigade level. His assignments
have included Rifle Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader,
Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer and Brigade
Operations Officer. He has also served as a Brigade Operations
Observer / Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center,
Fort Polk, Louisiana. During his last 6 years of active duty
service, he was assigned as an Information Systems Officer in
the Information Career Field. He served as an Information
Management Officer at 5th Signal Command, Mannheim Germany and
finally as a Lead Project Coordinator, for the Office of the
Chief Information Officer, Engineer IT Solutions Branch, The
Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and
Advanced Courses, Battalion Maintenance Officers Course, Mortar
Platoon Leaders Course, Jumpmaster Course, and the United States
Army Command and General Staff College and the Systems
Automation Course. He is an honor graduate of the Air Assault
school, Ft. Campbell Kentucky, and has completed the basic
Airborne and the Ranger course. He holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville State
University, Jacksonville Alabama.
LTC Lentz’ awards and decorations include the Defense Superior
Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf
clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters,
Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Southwest
Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal with arrowhead device, Saudi and Kuwait
Liberation Medal, Army Superior Unit Award with one oak leaf
cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge,
Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
